"The new administration will “Implement an economy-wide cap-and-trade program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent by 2050.”
The proposal has its roots in the defeated 2007 Lieberman/Warner bill, “America’s Climate Security Act,” which proposed a cap and trade system to reduce carbon emissions 70 per cent by 2050.
If such a program was to be fully implemented, the consequences for the American economy would be devastating.
The 2007 bill was rejected for a very good reason - its passage would have created economic conditions comparable to a new Great Depression and sunk America to near third world status.
The Environmental Protection Agency’s economic analysis of the bill forecast that a whopping $2.9 trillion would be shaved off the economy by the year 2050 if the legislation was enacted. It would also reduce GDP by 6.9 percent - a figure comparable with the economic meltdown of 1929 and 1930, and millions of jobs would have been lost within the first 10 years of its passage."

By Lucia Mutikani
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The number of U.S. workers lining up for state jobless benefits surged last week and home building slumped to a record low in December, data showed on Thursday, as the economy's downward spiral accelerated.
The worst financial crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930s is forcing companies to slash jobs, creating a vicious cycle for an economy mired in a year-long recession.
This was the first major set of grim economic data to greet President Barack Obama, who took office on Tuesday, and analysts said it underlined the need for swift government action to heal the fractured economy.
The White House said Obama was working to implement a rescue plan quickly, but believed the economic climate could still worsen before getting better.

Obama related to Bush, Churchill: US researchers
NEW YORK (AFP) — US presidential hopeful Barack Obama turns out to be a distant relative not only of President George W. Bush but also of wartime British prime minister Winston Churchill, according to US researchers.
The New England Historic Genealogical Society traced the family trees of the three major presidential candidates
On the Republican side, John McCain's family tree came up with perhaps less surprising results, revealing mainly that he was a sixth cousin of First Lady Laura Bush.

I've got some heavy-duty video watching to do before I can catch up with you guys on these topics. Thanks for the links.
My girlfriend showed me a flyer advertising the carbon emissions tax that is being introduced in England apparently. From the flyer, it seems that this new legislation will introduce a 'fuel coupon' system, similar to the coupon system that was operative in the World Wars. You do the set amount of kilometres, then when your 'emissions' quota has been used up, you're stuck! You can't travel (in a vehicle that produces carbon emissions) as you will not be able to buy fuel.
This reminds me of two points with which we are all familiar. There will come a time when:
1. we 'cannot buy or sell.' and (Rev 13)
2. it is doubtful that those who are in the cities will ever escape (EG White, speaking of the time of trouble)
This info on the economic effect of the carbon tax in Australia was found at

$1000-per-year.html
Carbon emissions tax could cost families more than $1,000 per year
Written by Nelson Ireson

Those living in less affluent, more remote parts of cities and rural areas where public transport and services are less prevalent will end up spending a much larger portion of their income on carbon emissions taxes because they rely more heavily on cars for their daily lives.
Research released today by the Brotherhood of St. Laurence, an anti-poverty foundation dating back to the Great Depression, shows that the impact of carbon emissions trading schemes would be felt disproportionately by the poor. The study draws on information from the National Institute of Economic and Industry Research and the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
“Brotherhood research last year showed that imposing a carbon price will take a much bigger proportion of the income of poorer households than wealthy households, despite smaller ‘carbon footprints’. The latest findings show that those households in areas with little or no public transport or services will be even worse off,” said the organization’s executive director Tony Nicholson.
“With the introduction of carbon emissions trading we are heading for a ‘catch 22’ situation. Many people on low incomes live in areas that lack public transport and services such as hospitals and government offices because accommodation is cheaper, but are forced to rely on cars, which will become more costly with a price on carbon. They also often drive older cars that use more petrol, putting further strain on household budgets," Nicholson said.
Based on estimated tax rates of $35 per tonne of carbon emissions, the average cost to the poor households in Melbourne’s high-petrol usage areas would come to $1,164 to $1,220 per year. The neighbourhoods included in this price range are all outer-suburban, and the study estimates families living in these areas would require 10 percent more carbon emissions to meet their daily needs than would an inner-urban family.
The average cost to poor families in Victoria is slightly lighter, at $938 per year, but for the rural Victorian poor, costs could be as high as $1,173 to $1,306. The cost as a percentage of the income of the poor is also high - much higher than for wealthier urban residents, who nevertheless have easy access to mass transit, hospitals and government offices.
“As a society we must introduce carbon emissions trading, because it is an economic incentive to encourage society to cut down on goods and services that require more carbon-based energy in their production or operation
“However, this latest research is further evidence that a carbon price must be accompanied by measures that not only counter the impact on poorer people but also assist poor households to reduce carbon emissions,” said Nicholson.
Solutions to the problem will not be easy or quick, however. The Brotherhood’s suggestions include things like better urban and suburban planning, ensuring new communities are built only once a public transport plan is in place.
“We can no longer allow new communities to be built without ensuring public transport and other services are also in place. Timely urban planning is essential before new housing developments are built,” Nicholson said.

The sad thing about this Lie is that there are good people out there who believe that they are helping the environment by paying this tax, when in reality it is a Lie perpetrated by evil monster with plans that do not include them, how ever Christ and His Father have a plan that includes all, simply put, turn your eyes toward Jesus and look full in his wonderful face and you know the things of this Earth
do
grow totally and utterly dim in the light of his glory and grace. Amen

I've just been watching some of those Ron Paul videos on YouTube.
Here's an interesting one. Seems YouTube withheld Ron Paul's campain video so that people wouldn't see it.
